InfoComm Green AV Award Presented to Da-Lite and WolfVision

InfoComm International September 23, 2011

PORTLAND, Ore. - InfoComm International ®, the leading professional audiovisual trade association, presented its Green AV Award to Da-Lite Screen Company, Inc. and WolfVision GmbH. The awards were presented at the InfoComm 100, a conference designed to bring together top AV industry thought leaders and volunteers.

The Green AV Award was created by InfoComm to recognize people and organizations for implementing environmentally sustainable practices in the manufacturing of products, integration of AV systems, reduction of waste in the workplace or through similar strategies.

As a sustainable manufacturer, Da-Lite Screen Company gives validity and trust to specifiers, integrators and end users who select Da-Lite products to comply with stringent guidelines for environmental design, chemical or particle emissions and overall quality. To become a more efficient and responsible manufacturer, Da-Lite Screen Company’s Warsaw, Indiana headquarters and primary production facility achieved ISO 14001:2004 Certified in April 2008. During the ISO renewal process in March 2011, production facilities in Wichita, Kansas and Cincinnati, Ohio were added to the certification. This revision ensures that all Da-Lite branded products will be manufactured in an ISO 14001 registered facility through March 2014 when the next renewal will be required.

Beginning in 2008, Da-Lite Screen Company began certifying all front and rear projection screen fabrics with the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. Through mid-2011, all 30 of Da-Lite’s projection screen fabrics have received certification for GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children and Schools.  These standards limit the use of over 2,000 individual volatile organic compounds.  Da-Lite’s GREENGUARD certified fabrics are recommended by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Rating System, NAHB Green Building Guidelines, Canada Green Building Council, United Kingdom Green Building Council, REACH, Green Guide for Health Care and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools Best Practices Manual.

Da-Lite is a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and has a total of five outside salespeople and four inside sales people that are LEED AP certified, giving credence to Da-Lite product recommendations when environmental attributes are required. As a trusted Green manufacturer, Da-Lite is regularly specified in numerous LEED driven new construction and building renovation projects. In addition to the USGBC, Da-Lite Screen Company has been an active member of the Indiana Environmental Stewardship Program since 2008 and was renewed by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management in June 2011 for another three year term in the program.

The commitment to user-friendly environmentally responsible products comes full circle in the Da-Lite Screen Green Exchange Program. Old or unused Da-Lite projection screens can be returned to the Warsaw, IN production facility where they will be disposed of in a sustainably sensible fashion. This Warsaw, IN facility has a 100% landfill diversion rate. This fact gives customers the ease of mind that all materials used in the production of a Da-Lite product are fully sustainable.

Completely independent of fossil fuels and utilizing the latest energy management processes, WolfVision sets a high standard of environmentalism.

WolfVision’s contribution to the adoption of sustainability measures can be seen through the manufacture and distribution of products that are designed to have minimum impact on the environment, as well as by the example that they set to their suppliers and other manufacturers through their environmental responsibility. From the company’s environmentally-friendly headquarters in Klaus, Austria, to the people who work within it, in manufacturing, purchasing, distribution and logistics. All aspects of the business work together to ensure that environmental responsibility remains a core part of the company culture. When the company elected to build a new sustainable headquarters building, the Wolf family was so committed to finding the right building concept that an architectural competition was staged to ensure that the optimum design could be selected.

Social and ecological responsibility at WolfVision has always been a core issue. WolfVision is a family-owned company, and a full awareness of subsequent generations and the world that they will live in is an integral part of the company's nature.

“Today’s sustainability practices are essential to building tomorrow’s AV industry,” said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., Executive Director and CEO, InfoComm International. “InfoComm is pleased to issue the Green AV Awards to Da-Lite and WolfVision, for leading the industry by example.”
